Morpeth School (Heeten)

Morpeth School (Heeten)

Morpeth School has been a 1MM Youth Partner since 2019 when a first programme was cut short due to lockdown. Since reconnecting in 2023 we’re pleased to soon be launching a fourth 1MM Mentoring Programme for its learners. Uniquely each cohort is sponsored by a 1MM Employer, with Mayer Brown and Grant Thornton both supporting two cohorts each so far. Their staff have volunteered to become mentors and students benefit not only from the mentoring, but also an eye-opening change of environment with their meetings taking place at their mentor’s workplace.

Why did you choose 1MM?

The programme aligns with our commitment to holistic education, where young people not only focus on academics but also build critical life skills and confidence.

What are the key things your young people needed support with?

Many of our students come from diverse backgrounds where opportunities can feel limited, so having access to mentors who offer practical advice and encouragement has been vital in broadening their horizons.

Have you seen a change in your young people?

Absolutely. We’ve seen significant improvements in their confidence and their ability to set and work toward personal goals. Many students have shared that they now feel more prepared to tackle challenges,

Our young people primarily needed support with self-confidence, career guidance, and developing a positive mindset. The 1MM programme has provided valuable opportunities for our students. The mentoring relationships have helped them gain a clearer sense of direction and feel more confident about their next steps. It’s been encouraging to see them engage with new ideas and perspectives, and we’re excited to continue building on these foundations.
