1MM mentoring complements the curriculum/programme-based learning and professional advice offered by educational establishments and youth organisations to:
- Offer young people aged between 14 and 25 a positive relationship with a trusted adult to improve academic and non-academic outcomes.
- Provide positive role models who can inspire and guide young people, especially those who lack access to such figures in their own lives.
- Help young people develop essential skills, access resources and opportunities, and navigate the complexities of finding sustainable, satisfying employment.
Through partnerships with businesses and other organisations – as well as via independent sign up – we recruit, train and support mentors who can provide young people with longer-term access to more personalised experience-based support to help them with. To learn more about it, see Mentor pages.
Mentors benefit from the increased sense of meaning and purpose that comes from contributing their time to a meaningful cause, from acquiring new skills and enhancing existing ones, and from the new perspective and deeper understanding that comes from connecting with a different generation.
Employer Partners benefit from being seen – by staff, customers and the wider public – as an organisation prepared to 'do something' to address the inequities and issues getting in the way of young people fulfilling their potential.
