How it works
1MM mentoring - like all the best things - is based on a ‘simple’ idea: matching adults who have navigated their own route out of education and into satisfying employment with young people who will benefit from that experience as they find their own path.
One regular conversation, one hour a month, for up to one year: one life changed.
1MM mentors come from a very wide range of backgrounds and bring a diverse array of professional and life experiences with them. All have real world knowledge and experience to share with young people.
If you’re working or retired, have five or more years working experience (or two years post-graduate working experience), you could mentor with us.
Becoming an effective Mentor depends much more on the attributes and attitudes you bring to the role than on your specific qualifications, skills, industry knowledge or expertise.
1MM’s highly rated induction training equips mentors with a flexible and responsive approach that means each individual mentee can receive the encouragement and support they need to take that step, whatever their background and current situation.
1MM offers a ‘one stop shop’, with everything you and your mentee need to have the best chance of a successful, longer-term relationship.
I would encourage others at Gensler to mentor with One Million Mentors because it is a fulfilling way to give back to the community while also enhancing their own professional skills. By participating in this programme, we can collectively contribute to building a brighter future for the next generation
