Partner with 1MM

If you’re a youth partner (working with young people aged 14-25 years) or an employer organisation based in Cardiff, East London, Greater Manchester or The West Midlands and you’d like to discuss partnership opportunities, contact us at: enquiries@1MM.org.uk.

Students have the opportunity to access careers support from an experienced professional; gain insight to an industry/profession; start to build a professional network; learn how to write persuasive job applications, CVs and covering letters; acquire skills to perform well in an interview; and find and apply for work experience opportunities.

Youth Partner, Louisa Chastney, Queen Mary University of London

Youth Partners:
What we expect of you

As a youth partner, we will support you in setting up and maintaining the mentoring programme; however, we do require one member of staff to be a designated “Mentor Coordinator” and manage the programme internally. This will involve completing DBS checks, being the first point of contact for mentors, organising mentoring sessions and supporting 1MM in collecting surveys and demographic information.

How to take part?

  1. Register your organisation: Email us to register your organisation – enquiries@onemillionmentors.org.uk.
  2. Induction Pack: We’ll send a detailed induction pack and support you step by step.
  3. Mentor Induction: We’ll help you host a Mentor Induction – welcome mentors, share objectives, conduct safeguarding checks etc.
  4. Match mentors to mentees: Review mentor profiles to match to your young people.
  5. Mentee induction & begin mentoring: We’ll run a brief Mentee Induction – helping prepare your students for getting the most from a mentoring relationship.

Employers:
What we expect of you

We are offering you the opportunity to join our community of forward-thinking businesses and to help shape our future. Whether a small or large business, we ask that you assign a “Volunteer Coordinator” who will help ensure the timely completion of the 1MM Mentor Training Programme, commitments to mentoring are upheld, and required impact evaluations are submitted.

How to take part?

  1. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)/ Collaboration Agreement (CA): If trialling the offer, we kindly ask our employer partners to agree and sign the MoU which formalises the commitment to supporting the 1MM mission. For a paid sponsorship package there is a CA.
  2. Assign a Volunteer Coordinator: Decide who will be the point of contact for 1MM and your mentors.
  3. Discuss opportunity potential: At the time of your interest, there may be youth partner opportunities available for specific selection. The 1MM Team would be happy to discuss any options for consideration.
  4. Recruit mentors: Assist in advertising the volunteering opportunity through internal communication channels, collate registered interest and keep the 1MM Team updated.
  5. Support training:
    (a) Online Training, Individual . 1-2hrs only, for a programme consisting of 5-10min modules. You can support staff by allowing scheduling of time in their diaries for completion (we recommend 90mins).
    (b) Mentor Workshop (online), Group. One-time attendance only for a 2.5hr session. This is interactive to work on practical skills, and is a great opportunity to meet other mentors along with the 1MM Team. You can sponsor additional sessions to expedite your staff’s training and be prioritised if shortlisted for a match.
